Industry Advisory Council
The MPi Industry Advisory Council was developed to provide the
automotive industry input into the strategic product and marketing direction of
MPi. The Advisory Council is comprised of automotive industry experts, veteran
factory executives and top dealers.

Tony Noland, CEO NCM Associates
Mr. Tony Noland has been involved in the retail automobile industry for more
than 38 years. Prior to joining NCM Associates, he held most of the positions
in a retail dealership and worked with a major domestic automobile
manufacturer. During his tenure with NCM, he has worked with numerous 20 groups
and been responsible for all projects associated with publicly traded clients
and automotive manufacturers. Additionally, while Director of NCM's
International Operations; he established operations/associations in Europe,
Japan, Latin America, South Africa and Australia. Since 1995, Mr. Noland has
written a monthly column for Ward's Dealer Business, the Management Magazine
for Auto Dealership Professionals. He has been a guest speaker at numerous
conventions in the United States including three American Institute of
Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) Conferences, J. D. Power Roundtable, 20
group meetings, and state automobile dealer association meetings and at three
major consolidator annual meetings. He has also been privileged to speak to
automobile dealers and manufacturers in many countries throughout the world
including Europe, Japan, Mexico, South America and South Africa. Mr. Noland,
along with Jeff Sacks, is the co-author and a presenter of the General
Manager's Boot Camp, a course designed to assist in the education and skills of
tomorrow's leaders in the automotive industry.
Ernest H. Pomerantz, Chairman with StoneWater
Capital, LLC
Mr. Ernest H. Pomerantz is a Chairman with StoneWater Capital, LLC. He
has extensive experience in the Automotive Industry from the investor
perspective. Prior to joining StoneWater Capital, he was Managing Director with
Mesa Partners, LLC. He was a partner at Warburg, Pincus & Company for
twenty-two years. Mr. Pomerantz is currently a Director of Alamo Orchards,
Inc., ATX Group, Inc., The Cobalt Group, Inc., Fallbrook Technologies Inc.,
GEO2 Technologies Inc., Mobile Productivity, Inc., and an Advisory Director to
the Hendrick Companies, LLC, and CustomerSat, Inc. He also served on the board
of J D Power and Associates from 1999 to 2005. He is also a Director of Phoenix
Houses of Texas. Born in San Antonio, Texas, Mr. Pomerantz served as a
Lieutenant in the United States Navy from 1964 to 1969. He received a B.S. from
Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute with a Navy ROTC Scholarship, an M.A. from
USC/London School of Economics, and an M.B.A. from New York University.
Joe Herman
Mr. Joe Herman is one of the Industry's most well know leaders. Mr. Herman
brings to the MPi Advisory Council a wealth of credentials derived from over
four decades of hands on experience. He began his automotive career over as a
sales person, was a OEM executive, Dealer, and for the last fifteen years held
senior leadership positions with retail consolidators EMCO/United Auto Group
(Sr. Exec VP), Planet-Potamkin Automotive Group (CEO, President, COO), and
Group 1 Automotive (Sr.VP.Ops/RVP). Mr. Herman has chaired several Regional and
National Dealer Councils, Marketing and Advertising Committees and a number of
20 Groups over his career, and has also been an NADA National Convention
Workshop Moderator, and both a Presenter and Retail Panel Member at a number of
JD Power conferences.
Bill Lovejoy, Manager, Lovejoy & Associates
Since retiring as a senior executive in General Motors, Mr. Lovejoy has served
as Manager of Lovejoy & Associates, an automotive consulting firm. From January
2000 until December 2002, Mr. Lovejoy served as Group Vice President, North
American vehicle sales, service and marketing for GM. From 1992 until December
1999, Mr. Lovejoy served as General Manager and then Vice President of General
Motors Service and Parts Operation. From 1962 until 1992, Mr. Lovejoy served in
various capacities for General Motors Acceptance Corporation ("GMAC") and was
ultimately promoted to President of GMAC in 1990. Mr. Lovejoy has also served
as a director of United Automotive Group since March 2004.
Richard Sherman, MPi Director of Alliance & GM Dealer
Development
Mr. Sherman has over 40 years of automotive industry experience; including 31
years with General Motors. At GM, Mr. Sherman held several senior management
positions in sales, service and marketing. He started his GM career at Pontiac
Motor Division; where as General Sales Manager, Service, he received ASE
certification before moving on to GM Service Parts Operation as General
Director of Sales, Service and Marketing, creating GM's "Mr. Goodwrench"
service marketing program. He later developed AC Delco's "Delco Tech"
aftermarket service channel and was subsequently elected to the Automotive News
industry "All Star" group as "Service-Person-of-the Year." He then went on to
GM as Executive Director, Sales Policy and Dealer Relations, for the US. Mr.
Sherman has completed the GM Advanced Management program at Emory University,
has a BS in Marketing from SIU and holds a Masters from Central Michigan.
Joe Hilger, MPi Director of Alliance & Chrysler Group
Dealer Development
Mr. Hilger retired from a 33-year career with DaimlerChrysler, where he was
most recently Vice President of Global Service for the Chrysler, Jeep and Dodge
brands. While at the Chrysler group, he focused on improving dealers' retail
business by advancing the call for increased customer satisfaction, service
department productivity, vehicle and service quality, including dealer/factory
relations. Prior to becoming Vice President, Mr. Hilger held the position of
Director of International Service and Parts and also served as Director of
Sales and Marketing Training. Prior to that, he served as Director of MoparŪ
Sales and Marketing where he protected and expanded the MoparŪ Parts and HemiŪ
Engine brands. Mr. Hilger holds a BS degree in Automotive Technology.
Maureen Sullivan Martin, MPi Director of Alliance & Ford
Dealer Development
Ms. Martin has over 20 years of diverse experience in the automotive industry
from the perspectives of the manufacturer, the supplier and the retail
dealership. In Ms. Martin's 11years of management positions with Ford Motor
Company, she developed competencies in the areas of retail development,
marketing, sales, fixed operations, leadership and employee development. She is
well known for automotive consulting and keynote speaking with her expertise in
increasing profitability through improvements to customer satisfaction and
dealership operations. Ms. Martin holds a BA degree in Business from Western
Michigan University with a major in Marketing and minors in Computer
Informational Systems and Business Management.
Dennis Noonan, MPi Director of 20 Group Alliances; Partner,
Saturn of Champaign & Worden-Martin Buick, Pontiac, GMC, Lincoln, Mercury,
Nissan and Subaru
Mr. Noonan has over 25 years of automotive industry experience both as a dealer
and as an outside consultant. From 2002-2006 he worked as an NADA 20 group
moderator; as well as an NCM moderator and in-dealership consultant; helping
dealers review all areas of operations looking for ways to improve
profitability and reduce expense.
Mr. Noonan graduated in 1971 from the University of Illinois with a BS in
finance/economics.
David Vallone, Vice President of Fixed Operations with AutoNation
Mr. Vallone has been in the automotive industry for 25 years. He started his career as a Service Advisor and quickly moved into management. In 1993, Mr. Vallone authored The Professional Service Advisor training program. This program was marketed to dealers across the country. In 1995, he joined the management team of CarChoice as the Director of Reconditioning. In mid 1996, when CarChoice was acquired by AutoNation, he became the Operations Director for one of the five AutoNation state-of-the-art 150,000 square foot reconditioning centers in Dallas. Later, he served as a consultant and trainer with Carter & Carter International (a UK based automotive consulting firm). Mr. Vallone rejoined AutoNation in January of 2002 as the Director of Corporate Fixed Operations and in early 2007 was promoted to his current position.
Kip Killmon, Owner/Dealer Principal, Tysons Ford; a Washington DC Ford Dealer located in Vienna, VA
Mr. Killmon began his automotive career in 1972 working as a Zone Manager with the Lincoln Mercury Division of Ford. In 1978 he moved on to become the leasing manager at Dave Pyles Lincoln-Mercury in Annandale, VA and from there to Tysons Ford. Mr. Killmon was promoted to GM of Tysons Ford in 1983, became a minority partner in 1986 and gained full ownership in 2000. Under Mr. Killmon's management, Tysons Ford has received the Ford Motor Company's President's Award five times.
Mr. Killmon is also a past winner of the prestigious Time Magazine Quality Dealer Award, which salutes the exceptional performance and distinguished community service of new-car dealers in America, and has been recognized by Northwood University for his community involvement.
Mr. Killmon serves on the Ford Dealer Advertising Fund and is a past board member of the Washington Area National Auto Dealers Association and the Virginia Auto Dealers Association.
Mr. Killmon holds an MBA from the University Of Pennsylvania Wharton School Of Finance.
Paul Rubin, Owner/Dealer Principal, White Bear Lake Superstore; a Buick, Pontiac, GMC dealership in Greater Minneapolis
Mr. Rubin is the outgoing co-chair of the GM National Dealer Council, representing some 6,600 GM dealers nationwide. He is also a past President of the Minnesota Automobile Dealer Association and a past Chairman of the Pontiac GMC Dealer Council. An automotive industry veteran, Mr. Rubin has been selling cars since he was 16. He ran a Dodge store for two years, a Toyota store for five years and has been running his current Pontiac, GMC, Buick dealership for the past 23 years. Aside from being a successful dealer, Mr. Rubin is perhaps best known for his willingness to have strong communications with manufacturers. Mr. Rubin graduated with an accounting degree from the University of Minnesota.
